A few answers
before you share.
Does my Mac need to stay on?
Yes. Files and local services are shared from your Mac, so it needs to stay awake, connected to the internet, and signed in with Sharing on. If it sleeps or goes offline, those shares become unavailable.
Do recipients need qURL Desktop?
No. They open your link in a browser, on a computer, phone, or tablet. They don’t need to install the app or create a LayerV account. The access rules on your link still apply.
Does this upload my files to cloud storage?
No. Your files stay on your Mac and are shared directly from there through qURL. Choose a file, set your access rules, and send the link. There’s no separate cloud upload to manage.
Which computers can run the app?
The first release is for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later) running macOS 12 Monterey or later. Windows and Linux support are coming soon. Intel Macs are not supported yet. Recipients can already open links on any of these platforms.
Do I need an account or a paid plan?
You need a LayerV account to share from Desktop. The app is free to download, and you can start with a free account. Usage limits and available policies depend on your plan. Compare plans.
